ABOUT THE JANIS CENTER MODEL RAILROAD CLUB
| CLUB HISTORY Started in 1980 by a group of seniors who set out to start a model railroad club in the basement of the Martin Janis Center on the Ohio State Fairgrounds in Columbus, Ohio. The club was originally located in the south east corner of the basement of the Martin Janis Center before moving to it’s present location of being in the center room of the basement. Current day, the layout hosts three main line tracks (each with about 4.7 miles of track) each with several sidings or passing tracks. There are 2 large yards and engine service facility and several small industrial yards as well as a large passenger station and several small stations along the main lines for a lot of great switching action as well as great operating sessions. This club currently enjoys 40+ members, we have regular business meetings the first Wednesday of every month and the layout is open to the public to visit every Monday – Friday 10am – 5pm and Thursday evenings from 5pm to 9pm. |
OPERATIONS We operate using analog and Digitrax DCC systems, Thursday evenings are most often all DCC operations however both analog and digital systems can run at the same time. Regardless all are welcome to stop by and visit. MEMBERSHIP DIRECTIONS QUESTIONS |
